Note About Recap for 12.22 21 Guns ... and Some Girl(s)
Decided to do a pre-emptive strike this week and post a note saying that the blog probably will not be updated by tomorrow night … seeing as the recap is only somewhat … oh, alright … less than somewhat … partially … maybe that’s a better word … partially written … Well, that’s not exactly true either … Let’s say, there are some ideas down on paper … well, actually on the computer … or still in my head … So, there is a chance it may be up before the rerun of The Human Shield airs, or it may not be. If it’s not, it won’t be posted before Monday – seeing as I will be away again this weekend, and though I will have my laptop, there’s no Internet access. I know! Tell me about it … I can’t believe it either … Didn’t think there were any places left like that … and, no, I am not going to
And for all who emailed me asking about some play about Some Girl(s) that I saw this past weekend, I could relate the story of how I was a just teensy bit late, miniscule amount of time really, to meet my friends and apparently had “just missed” by nanoseconds the adorable Eric McCormack and some girl from some TV medical drama out in front of the theatre, who were apparently very nice and said “hi” to everyone and pictures and yada yada yada before going in the stage door; or I could tell you all how my supposed “best friends”, who don’t even watch said TV medical drama nor read recaps involving said medical drama, nor carry camera phones to document seeing star of said medical drama yet felt compelled to constantly remind me that I had missed seeing said star of said medical drama; or I could even tell you about how I am now in the market for new best friends … But, let me just say this: If you can … Go … Seriously … You absolutely will not be disappointed. Funny, surprising, and extremely poignant at times. Innovative set. Well written … well cast … well acted. Bravo.

Awww! Poor you! And bad, bad friends! I'd offer to be your new best friend but unfortunately I live on the other side of the Atlantic...I am sure, however, that plenty of people would be very appreciative of your sense of humour, charm, and so forth. I look forward to the next recap!
So, you didn't get a chance to call Maura a "bitch"? ;o) You know for getting to kiss The Croatian Sensation AND get paid $$$ to do it?!?!?! *bitter*
Seriously, I love Maura and I would love to see that play. Sad you missed meeting her. Some friends, huh?
Looking forward to reading your recap whenever you get it posted. We have almost 4 months until the next new episode airs.
BAD...bad friends. I would gladly join the ranks as a new best friend!! I am glad to hear that you enjoyed it. Was there a full house? I have been seriously stewing BIG time and making my beloved feel very guilty as a flight to New York in the morning, a matinee ticket and a red eye out of New York would have made a PERFECT birthday, Mother's Day, anniversary gift. What is it with men?? They can't take a hint even when you hit them over the head with a brick!
One question though..Does the television medical drama chick end up with the guy at the end of the play?
Larue
OK, so I have an admission to make. When she could have been doing the fan girl thing, Cranky and I were supping lattes and iced coffees and generally having a good time in a cafe in West Village, around the corner from the theatre. I can only apologise if I, in any way shape or form, caused her to be a teensy tiny bit late, thereby just missing seeing that medical drama girl outside the theatre before Some Girl(s). However, I am not responsible for her so-called, (now ex-) friends' inability to take pictures or, better still, engage the actress person in animated conversation until Cranky got there.
As for Cranky's assessment of the play - I'm with her all the way: really interesting play, well cast, funny, poignant and great performances from all. As for the medical drama girl, I couldn't possibly spoil it, but her character (Bobbi) is "significant".
Take your time with the recap Cranky. I know it will be worth the wait.
Are you the Josie who got BANNED from the ER Exchange? You know for not supporting the "Carby signs are everywhere!!!" mentality? If so, I used to love reading your posts when I used to lurk there.
Yes, I am she. And I'm still not seeing "the signs".
Not even the elephant squeaky toy (i.e. elephant-in-the-room/Abby's undying love for Carter)? What are you blind?!?!
I was so disappointed to see they banned you. I miss reading your posts. They were always well-written and more in synch with my way of thinking. A voice of reason in response to some "interesting" theories. I actually love reading in-depth analysis of my favorite show, but many of the things they were seeing I just wasn't seeing.
poor cranky, I feel you!
you're gonna have to recap the play for us 'cause a trip across the Atlantic just for a play ... hum ... well I'll save it for the next winning lottery ticket I'll buy :O)
can't help but laugh imagining you chatting with Maura when a "bitch" escape your mouth ...
and the finale recap, take your time, as someone already said, it's gonna be a long dry summer!
Cranky – have a good trip! And I’m very happy to hear you quite enjoyed “Some Girl(s)” in spite of some friend(s)! not having the resourcefulness to stall a certain star of a medical drama, nor have the good manners not to repeatedly rub the incident in your face afterwards. Let me know when you open auditions for new best friends, because I promise to purchase a new cell phone with camera and web capabilities should there even be the remotest chance that I might run into certain stars of a certain medical drama, should I win the role.
If it weren’t that at this point in my life it would be pretty fiscally irresponsible to spend beaucoup bucks to fly cross country (I’m in northern California) and stay in a hotel in Manhattan for a long weekend; and that none of my local friends would indulge in geeky fandom, theatre love, and/or the frivolous tossing of cash to the extent I would; I’d seriously consider seeing Some Girl(s). Or if the theatre decided to extend the run another two weeks, I could possibly route my July 22 trip to Nova Scotia through NYC…hmm…
Take you time with the recap, Cranky, as it’s always worth the wait. I’m hoping later in the summer your loyal fans can tempt you into giving us another “extra” or deleted scene, since now I must reconcile myself to a summer not only without new ER eppies, but also without your recaps…
And Josie! I’ve loved reading your posts over at the ER Exchange. Sadly, it’s just not as interesting reading anymore since you’ve been banned, and the one mod who didn’t do the Carby-colored glasses thing (Northern Dancer?) seems to be quiet or missing lately. If you decide to share your ER-related observations elsewhere, I’d love to know…
Too kind. I'm so pleased you enjoyed my posts, but I suppose my days were numbered once Northern Dancer disappeared. So where is she? Is she locked in a cupboard somewhere? Is she mulch for someone's lawn? Has she really gone on a business trip to a place where there is no Internet access? Maybe it's the same weird place that Cranky is going to this weekend? For the record, I thought Northern Dancer was pretty brave at TEEX: she comprehensively changed her POV, acknowledging that she may have got it "wrong" in the past - and with her old views very publicly available on the board. So bravo to her.... wherever she is.
And while I'm at it, bravo and thanks to Cranky for making S12 even more fun than it was already. You really are a very funny and talented writer. Bitch.
Josie (bet you didn't know you had so many 'fans')! Great to know you haven't left the ER internet community for good. I'd second Janet in saying I'd love to read your thoughts elsewhere.
And Cranky, take your time with the recap. I still haven't seen the finale (UK viewer), so perhaps I'll get to watch an episode where I haven't been tempted to read the whole plot first...
Yeah, I would also like to know what happened to Northern Dancer. She must be on some crazy business trip that lasts so long and has no Internet access. Strange.
Too bad there couldn't be a spinoff board where non-Carby fans are allowed to post. Like I said, I really enjoyed reading the in-depth discussions esp when the different points of view were allowed. I guess they'd rather have a board with little or no discussion like they do now. Good times.
Cranky, couldn't your "friends" make a call to your cell phone so that way you could get there in time to see them?
Cranky - thank GOODNESS you are willing to write these recaps. I boned the taping of the ER finale (VHS - no TIVO. shoot me -I'm a Luddite)and I anxiously await your detailed analysis. But as I am also away this weekend with no Internet access - take your time. Next week will be good for me. :-)
>^..^<

one thing i forgot to say if you go to my website please read the purple writing, it is about my chat this weekend
I love your recaps and I'm sorry you missed Maura!
Josie? The one who was banned? I loved your posts!
Awww.....I'm really touched that people actually read my drivel. SYDNEA was a good read and what a friend - had herself banned, defending my good name. Northern Dancer had some interesting things to say and was also wonderfully quick to support our views. It seems pretty much dead there now and I'm not surprised: that's what happens when you try to control the exchange of opinions.
Anyway, thanks again for the kind words and offers of message boards.
I wonder how Cranky is getting on? She's in wine country, so surely her creative juices will have been flowing. She may not have had naked Luka to spur her on, but she did have him tied down :)
I just wanted to say to Josie that it's a shame that you were banned from the TEEx. Not really sure why you were banned...oh wait...it's because you didn't support the Carby "signs", "paralels", "subtle anvils" (can an anvil be subtle?), "remainders" and other such utter delusional Carby nonsense. I enjoyed reading your posts as well as Northern Dancer's. Hope the Campfire Girls didn't banish her to the spooky part of the woods where non-Carby believers are never heard from again.
Cranky, I look forward to your recap of 21 Guns. Hope you are enjoying your vacation.
the longer the wait, the better the recap, right ?
hee
I've seen the epsiode many times now. I could watch it again anytime I want. But here I sit anxiously and not so patiently waiting for someone else's description of it.
Sounds crazy but Cranky's recaps are just that good!
I’m slightly embarrassed to report that I’m one of Cranky’s bad, bad friends who did not capture any of the Some Girls celebrity sightings with photographic evidence. So I offer up this recap for your entertainment (and to stay on everyone’s good side).
Brooke Smith – You probably remember her as the kidnap victim from Silence of the Lambs. “It puts the lotion on its skin or else it gets the hose again.” I was sitting in the window seat of a nearby café (waiting for Cranky and everyone else) and made eye contact with her as she rushed down Christopher Street toward the theater. It was pouring rain, so she was carrying an umbrella. Big, round blue eyes and lots of curly blonde hair.
Eric McCormack – He rode his bike to the theater and was carrying it into the side entrance when people started noticing his arrival. Very handsome and friendly. Posed for pictures.
Maura Tierney – Her hair is quite long these days. She was shorter than I expected – around 5’3 or 5’4, I’d say. She has that “lollipop” look that a lot of actors have – large face and small, lean body. She was wearing gray yoga gear with a patterned top. She was also friendly and posed for photos.
By the way, the play was terrific and very thought provoking, so you should really try to see it if you can. All of the actors were good, but I was especially surprised by Fran Drescher, who gave a rather brave performance. Too bad we didn’t see her or Judy Reyes at the stage door!
I am another bad, bad friend. Please forgive us. I doubt Cranky will be auditioning for our replacements any time soon. We entranced her with $12 margaritas.
Yeah, that's true ... they did. That, the guacamole and the little show the waiter put on for us by dancing to the table everytime he delivered something helped relieve my crankiness ... temporarily ...
Okay....SOOO......you said you went to see the play again and MET Maura??? What happened? What did she have to say???
Josie...I am so out of the loop. I have been busy moving to PA and haven't read much on Teex. What the hell happened? I loved your comments and Northern Dancers...and I thought she was there for the long run.....
fill me in....JJJ
Oh and cranky, I haven't read anything of yours since the move, but I will, I promise. Just getting settled in...
